They keep making new movies, and some of them are even worth watching. Here’s what’s at the top of the slate for December 2023:
American Fiction: Jeffrey Wright plays a novelist who’s really, really frustrated by racial stereotypes. So he attempts to totally lampoon them, and the results may not be exactly what he was expecting. This looks ferocious.
We’ll be able to check out some American Fiction in select American theaters on December 15 before it expands in the coming weeks.
Poor Things: You know all bets are off when Yorgos Lanthimos is cooking up something. And Emma Stone is clearly down to clown as a young woman brought back to life. Offbeat Frankenstein-ian vibes.
There will be Poor Things in limited theaters on December 8 before expanding on December 22.
Anyone But You: Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell do the enemies-in-a-fake-relationship thing, and you know what? I’d like to see them end up together by the end of it.
Anyone But You will be nowhere but theaters on December 22.
