Whenever the Oscars come around, I like to enter the discussion about whether certain acting performances should be categorized as Lead or Supporting. There’s not too many I felt compelled to talk about this year, just a couple:

1. Glenn Howerton is undoubtedly a Lead in Blackberry (in fact, a Co-Lead with Jay Baruchel). I’m flabbergasted that I haven’t seen anyone else push back about how he’s been consistently categorized as Supporting.

2. Lily Gladstone could be considered Supporting in Killers of the Flower Moon, but I think it’s right that she’s been slotted as a Lead. Despite her relative lack of screen time, her story is very much centered throughout the film.
