Why we go to the movies (CREDIT: Illumination & Universal Pictures)

They keep making new movies, and some of them are even worth watching. Here’s what’s at the top of the slate for July 2024:

Despicable Me 4: Gru and the goirls are back, Will Ferrell and Joey King join in on the fun, and the Minions are Mega.

Despicable Me 4 will be in theaters everywhere July 3.

MaXXXine: Director Ti West and star Mia Goth wrap up their decades-spanning horror trilogy with a murder mystery set amidst the 1980s glitz and glamour.

MaXXXine will light up marquees on July 5.

Longlegs: The promos for Longlegs have been pretty vague, but with Nicolas Cage playing a serial killer and Maika Monroe as the FBI agent tracking him down, it’s certainly got my attention.

Longlegs will walk into theaters on July 12.
