I want to see a movie. (CREDIT: MUBI/Screenshot)

They keep making new movies, and some of them are even worth watching. Here’s what’s at the top of the slate for September 2024:

Speak No Evil: I’ve seen the trailer for this about 6 million times in the past few months. It’s a remake of a Danish film that I’ve heard good things about. James McAvoy looks creepy. There’s also a mini-Halt and Catch Fire reunion.

Movie theaters will Speak No Evil on September 13.

My Old Ass: Aubrey Plaza plays someone who visits the younger version of herself (Maisy Stella) to offer some advice. Sounds like a fun way to spend the day!

My Old Ass will plop itself down in theaters September 13.

The Substance: Whoa. Every year or so, a cinematic mindbender arrives on the big screen ready to blow me away. The Substance looks like it might be that this year.

You can ingest The Substance in theaters September 20.
