A moment from SNL that makes you go “gee” (CREDIT: NBC/Screenshot)

Jeff “jmunney” Malone watches every new episode of Saturday Night Live and then reviews all the sketches and segments according to a “wacky” theme.

Here we are in November 2024, hopefully enjoying Saturday Night Live, or at least watching it. Although I suppose it’s possible that some of you are reading this review without having watched the episode. Which is an interesting decision.

Anyway, the sixth episode of Season 50 was hosted by Bill Burr with musical guest Mk.gee. Bill’s done this whole thing before – he hosted back in the fall of 2020. This is Mk.gee’s first time on the Studio 8H stage, however. If you’re wondering, his name appears to be Michael Todd Gordon, or at least that’s what I’ve gleaned from consulting his Wikipedia page.

For my reviewing strategy for this episode, I will point out the one thing that I think will stick with me the most in the long run from each sketch.

Message from the Cast Cold Open: The turn from earnest to ironic will surely stick with me the most.

Bill Burr’s Monologue: Honestly, I’m not sure what will stick with me from this monologue. It was OK.

Fire House Rorschach Test: I mean, that image of Mike Wazowski will stick with me forever.

Buffalo Wild Wings: Probably the little girl will stick with me the most. She was really well-behaved!

Best of Snake Skin: There were multiple memorable moments in this sketch, but the one that will probably stick with me the most was the address to Mr. Gorbachev.

The Janitor: Obviously the barf will stick with me, specifically the fact that the professors somehow didn’t notice it before leaving the classroom.

Calling Dad: The goofy way that Devon Walker dialed on his phone will definitely stick with me for a while.

Mk.gee, “Rockman”: The beginning of this song’s resemblance to “Jessie’s Girl” will probably stick with me.

Weekend Update: The Jokes: The pairing of the Viagra Monkeys and the Blood Pressure stories made me laugh the most, so that will probably stick with me for a while.
Weekend Update: Woman Who Can’t Find Something in Her Purse: The Pennsylvania ballot!
Weekend Update: Willie: Probably the dog fighting (i.e., Willie “against the dog fighting”). Yeah, I think that’ll stick with me a lot.

Bald Men: I think the bald eagle – and the dignity it imbued – will stay with me.

Trauma Support Group: I think I might just remember how many donuts there were.

Mk.gee, “Alesis”: There’s a decent chance that the fact that Mk.gee was standing with quite a wide stance again will stick with me (although he did step back and move his feet closer together at some point).

Co-worker Dinner: The fact that I was cracking up while the live audience was stone silent will definitely stick with me.

Okay, that’s how that goes. Looking ahead, Charli XCX is booked to headline the next new episode, on November 16, so that’ll be the first time this season that someone pulls off host/musical guest double duty.
