November in New York! (CREDIT: NBC/Screenshot)

Jeff “jmunney” Malone watches every new episode of Saturday Night Live and then reviews all the sketches and segments according to a “wacky” theme.

Since this is my last time reviewing SNL before November 27, 2025, I shall now say: Happy Thanksgiving! I know my fans expect me to wish them a festive Turkey Day, and I simply can’t disappoint.

Back to the sketches and the variety, this particular episode that I’m reviewing right now boasts host Glen Powell and musical guest Olivia Dean. This represents the first time for both of them in those official capacities, marking the second episode in a row in which that was the case. I’m pretty sure that’s not the first time that has happened in the show’s history.

Since Glen is currently starring in The Running Man, and I’ve been known for plenty of running myself, the reviewing gimmick for this episode will involve me incorporating Running into my thoughts on each sketch and segment. So for example, I might say, “Run, don’t walk, to YouTube to watch this sketch”, or “This sketch really had my motor running.”

White House Press Briefing: Does the Trump Multiverse Theory involve a bunch of hamsters running on wheels to power all those alternate dimensions?

Glen Powell’s Monologue: I really appreciate Glen’s sisters running around to track down that UPS guy!

Sunnyside Senior House: So much of AI is still just a chicken running around with its head cut off, lol.

I Miss My Ex’s Dad: If your daughter’s boyfriend doesn’t like Steely Dan, run away fast!* (*-That was hyperbole. I actually recommend being patient and encouraging him to give them another try.)

Bachelor Weekend: What if Marcello ran an entire marathon in character as Sebastian Maniscalco?

Scent of a Marriage: You know, these Scandinavian family dramas really make something deep within me run and purr, and I think that’s only partially because I have Norwegian ancestry.

MacGruber I: MacGruber’s back?!!!! That’s the sort of thing that makes me run around all excited like a dog with the zoomies.

Bob Army: Werking the runway typically involves more walking than running: discuss.

Olivia Dean, “Man I Need”: Is neo soul a good genre to listen to while running? Let me know if you’ve tried it.

Weekend Update: The Jokes: Like Glen Powell’s current character, Forrest Gump is also a Running Man.

Airport Pickup (Taken): You can’t expect your relationships to thrive when you’re always running around. But sometimes, for the sake of your relationships, you have to. It’s important to divine which is which.

MacGruber II: Any day that includes both running and MacGruber is a pretty good day. (This has been today for me.)

Olivia Dean, “Let Alone the One You Love”: In honor of Olivia wearing a pink dress for this performance, I would like to mention how I wish that I could find more running clothes and gear that think pink.

Friendsgiving: A haircut like that is the sort of thing that happens when you’re not running. So think about that. But also, some of the most reliable haircuts also happen when you’re not running. So… plenty to think about.

MacGruber III: Crossing the finish line, and it still feels fresh.

Thank you, Glen, and thank you, Olivia! Next up we’ve got Melissa McCarthy and Dijon on December 6. I wonder if the latter has ever collabed with DJ Mustard?
