Jeff “jmunney” Malone watches every new episode of Saturday Night Live and then reviews all the sketches and segments according to a “wacky” theme.
Thank you for visiting this Saturday Night Live Review Space once again. In this edition, we’re dissecting the eighth episode of the 51st season. It was another British Invasion, as England natives Josh O’Connor and Lily Allen formed the guest lineup.
For my Reviewing Gimmick this time, I’ll be taking inspiration from the upcoming new SpongeBob movie. Thus, my take on each segment will be Bikini Bottom-themed as I utilize Mr. SquarePants’ signature declaration and declare what I’m Ready for from each sketch.
Air Force One: I’m Ready for more random 90s movie recommendations (e.g., Dogma).
Josh O’Connor’s Monologue: I’m Ready for all this rodent talk, and I didn’t even realize it.
Let’s Find L❤️ve: I’m Ready for wedding cake to be hot and moist. In my experience, it’s usually cool.
Uber Eats Wrapped: Honestly? I’m Ready to find out what I’ve been eating all year. I ain’t afraid of that.
Teaching Hospital: No surprise, I’m Always Ready to see Bowen Yang in a medical setting.
Bachelorette Weekend: I’m Ready for the sensitive vibes, but I would’ve been even more ready for a repeat visit from Sebastian Maniscalco.
Lily Allen, “Sleepwalking”: I’m Ready for the Lily Allen Revival! Who isn’t? Nobody, that’s who!
Weekend Update: The Jokes: I’m Always Ready for punchlines that take an unexpected twist, and there were a few of them from Michael and Colin this time.
Weekend Update: Marcello Hernandez: I’m Ready for “Me and (Blank) love you very much” to become a meme.
Weekend Update: Jane Wickline: I’m Ready for our post-Stranger Things future, but I’m also ready to actually go back and get caught up on everything happening in Hawkins. So I’m at a crossroads.
The Wizard of Oz Deleted Footage: I’m Ready for well-behaved pooches on screen, and SNL has been delivering in that regard for several seasons now.
brad and his dad: I’m Ready for Christmas and spending it with family, too!!!!! But I much prefer an artificial tree, though.
Study Group: A parent as your college professor? Oh man, I Would’ve Been So Ready for that 15-19 years ago.
Lily Allen, “Madeline”: I’m Ready for a serious conversation with a romantic partner about relationship expectations. Should be important but also fun!
Characters on Characters: I’m Ready for this to be a recurring bit. I think there’s still even more processes to explore.
Lily Allen Brunch: I’m Ready for an actual Lily Allen-themed brunch spot to open. Is that a legit possibility?
Well, I guess it’s clear by this point that I’m always ready for some new SNL. That’s promising news for next weekend, since we’ve got one more fresh episode before the year is through. That outing will consist of host Ariana Grande and musical guest Cher. What a lineup, right?
