Did vh-1 pull the plug on the 20? It’s not on the schedule. Paul Herman

I know that usually the last few weeks of the year they don’t have new episodes, and they’ll have a Top 20 or Top 40 of the Year instead. But this does seem early to finish up, and I’m not seeing a best of the year special on the schedule. I haven’t heard any cancellation announcements either, though.

Thanks Jeff, for your reply.
I think the show got canceled, but VH1 is keeping it a secret, and I don’t know why.
It’s too bad… I got into the current charts last May when Pharrell’s “Happy” was charting.
The music has continued to be pleasantly good and I’ve been recording NY’s Z-100’s Weekly Top 20 since July 2014.
But I am going to miss the videos.
Ironically, I detested MTV’s videos when the music station made its debut in 1981.
I wanted to watch artists perform live as they did on the Midnight Special, and I didn’t care the way the stories of the songs became the premise of the video.
But today’s videos are different and now they are gone. 😦
I was even getting used to Shannon Coffey, although my original gripe of cutting short the videos for more interviews was still high on the anguish list.

Hi Jeff,
Hoping your new year is a healthy one.
It appears that The 20, the longest countdown show on television, is now history!
It figures, since I just started watching the program last year.
… And they couldn’t wait until the new year so we could have a year end ‘Special Countdown of the Year for 2015’?
My question is…
If no television network is presenting these music videos anymore, will the artists still go through with making them?
What’s the point if nobody can watch them?
This show got me into the current music world.
I would not know who Ed Sheeran, Tove Lo and Elle King were without it.
If VH1 doesn’t want to air it, can’t another network?
Oh well, this 61 year old is just going to be happy recording the weekly Top 20 countdown show on Z-100 until they take that away.
Best regards,
Paul

Paul,
Great to hear from you again.
All indicators are pointing to cancellation, although it is weird that there’s been no announcement.
Music videos should survive on YouTube. The most popular ones are racking up 100’s of millions of views. A weekly perusal of the most viewed videos on YouTube may be worthwhile. But it won’t be the same without a countdown show packaging them in digest form.
Cheers,
Jeff

Hello.
I have been following your posts on VH1 top 20 countdown.
So is the show done for good?
Thank you,
Pria.

Pria,
I don’t think there was any official announcement, but it hasn’t been on the schedule, so I think it is done.
