For 2021, I’ve decided to elucidate my favorite podcasts of the year by recognizing the ones that I was most excited to listen to every week. (Or however often a new episode is posted!) But first, I’ve made a list of every podcast that I currently subscribe to on my feed and which I listened to at least one new episode of in 2021, because each and every one of them deserves to be called The Best!

The Podcast I Looked Forward to Listening to the Most:
Doughboys
Nick Wiger and Mike Mitchell’s roundup of fast food, fast-cazh, and sit-down joints has been around since 2015, and I’ve been aware of it for at least a few years. But I didn’t start listening to it until late 2021. As soon as I did, though, I knew that I needed to catch up with it as much as possible! Believe it or not, it’s fun to listen to people talk about the food they’ve eaten, especially these two guys. Also, Wiger loves the Minions as much as I do, so that’s a big plus.
The Other Podcasts I Looked Forward to Listening to the Most:
Dom and Andre in the Morning: Dom and Andre’s Community reviews didn’t appear as frequently in 2021, but their friendly pitter-patter was always a balm whenever it arrived.
Too Long; Didn’t Watch: TV critic Alan Sepinwall invites some people to watch only the first and last episodes of particular TV shows; Paul Scheer’s experience with Dexter is unforgettable.
Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend: Conezy keeps interviewing potential pals even as his co-hosts are having kids!
Blank Check: #TheTwoFriends covered Robert Zemeckis, Ron Clements & John Musker, Elaine May, John Singleton, and John Carpenter in 2021.
How Did This Get Made?: Believe it or not, Paul, June, and Jason haven’t yet tired completely of watching some kooky movies.
Comedy Bang! Bang!: The “Closing Up the Plug Bag” theme is always a little slice of heaven.
Dead Eyes: Among all that’s worth recommending about this show, one of the best has got to be Connor’s tender ad reads.
Pop Mom: A show hosted by a professional pop culture purveyor and his mom – they feel like family to me.
Greendale Human Podcasters: A weekly check-in to see what Australians think about the American sitcom Community.
