The Oscars were not that long ago, so I guess I better run down the best scenes of 2016.
A lot of great food scenes: dinners in Elle and 20th Century Women, plus the frobscottle feast in The BFG. Also, The Neon Demon stopped by a bar, but I don’t think they ate much.

Time for musical digressions: Dave Franco has the Nerve to say “You Got It,” “Drive It Like You Stole It” is Sing Street’s sublime centerpiece, and Wiener-Dog takes an intermission.
The Importance of Communication, as demonstrated by Arrival’s first contact and Pride & Prejudice & Zombies’ proposal.

I was shook when Jena Malone showed up with her phone and then Amy Adams broke it in Nocturnal Animals.

X-Men: Apocalypse satisfied our “Sweet Dreams” with the return of Quicksilver, and then topped itself when Apocalypse destroyed every nuclear weapon.

Talk about endings! Toni Erdmann shows up to a naked party, and La La Land asks what might have been.

Post-script: Nerve with the year’s best end credits.

This is a pretty freaking sweet list! Thanks for including those iconic scenes from “Weiner Dog,” “X-Men Apocalypse,” “Nerve” (obscure but SO worthy) and especially “Sing Street.”
