Well, those dang Emmy nominations are going to be revealed on Wednesday, July 8, and as per usual, I’m going to spotlight some programs and performers that I would like to see recognized. As is my wont, my focus will be on those with a lack of previous nominations and/or those with long odds.

First up, I shall mention Jessie Prez, who’s pretty much the only Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage regular who wasn’t also previously on Young Sheldon, but he’s nevertheless made quite a name for himself.

Next up, I shall go to bat for a couple of sitcoms under the same corporate umbrella, i.e. Peacock’s The Paper and NBC’s The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, which both give me hope that we can still Peacock Comedy until the end of our days.

Moving along, it is time for me to unequivocally declare myself a Dropout Devotee. Ergo, I hope to see Game Changer and Very Important People recognized wherever they’re eligible, particularly Sam Reich as Game Show Host. I didn’t notice Make Some Noise anywhere on the ballot, but that’s my favorite show from this streamer, so maybe we should start a write-in campaign.

I’m fairly confident that Pluribus will be up for Drama Series and Rhea Seehorn up for Lead Actress, but I’m a little less bullish about Karolina Wydra getting nominated in Supporting. Although she certainly could! Even without the TV Academy becoming part of the hive mind.

The rebooted Muppet Show was quite possibly the most delightful program I’ve seen in the past year, so we definitely need to see it on the Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) list.

Outstanding Short Form Nonfiction Or Reality Series is one of those weirder categories where it’s a great idea to pay attention to gentle creations like the Zach Galifianakis-hosted This Is a Gardening Show.

And finally, now that Solar Opposites has wrapped up its final season, it must once again be said that it has yet to receive any Emmy nominations, and it is therefore our last opportunity to rectify that grave injustice.
