“Karaoke Korner” strikes again! This time the lineup comes courtesy of Wesley Woods (Jeff’s cousin, Aunt Beth’s son), and it goes a little something like this: Long Island Troubadour Billy Joel, Funk Queen Chaka Khan, and Jamaica’s Own Toots and the Maytals.
Aunt Beth decided that it was time for Jeff to listen to Massachusetts-bred proto-punk band Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers. So he cued up their greatest hits album Roadrunner, Roadrunner: The Beserkley Collection, and now he’s ready to share his thoughts.
Who’s up for another edition of “Karaoke Korner”? If you answered “me,” hurray! The musical artists this time come from Jeff’s mom, and she’s sticking with the oldies: the Beach Boys, Herman’s Hermits, and Simon & Garfunkel.
Jeff and Aunt Beth welcome Jeff’s sister Kaity Malone to tackle an entire cinematic genre: musicals! Aunt Beth and Kaity attempt to convince Jeff to love those song-and-dance flicks as much as they do, and then everyone reveals their favorite classic and recent musicals. That leads into a pitch session for some ideas for new potential musicals.
Somehow, Jeff had never seen an episode of Freaks and Geeks in its entirety before May 2020. So Aunt Beth decided he ought to rectify that. Let’s find out how it went!
