The first time I saw the trailer for Heart of the Beast, I thought it was a new preview for The Dog Stars. But then I was like, “Hmm, I don’t think Brad Pitt is in The Dog Stars.” So it turned out we got TWO late summer/early fall 2026 releases about rugged folks trying to survive in the unforgiving wilderness. And the one that prominently features a pooch is the one that doesn’t have “dog” in its title. So yeah, now that I’ve seen ’em both, Heart of the Beast certainly gives off Dog Stars vibes, both in the sense that it was aesthetically and thematically similar to that movie that came out a month earlier and in the sense that it boasts a top-performing canine. Hopefully everything is cleared up now! Good boy.
