I am writing to you in the midst of an unusually hot April stretch for New York City. It started out dry, but at the moment the humidity’s been trending up. And I just cannot abide that. Spring weather is famously pleasant for its lack of humidity! Ay-yi-yi!
Nonetheless, I shall plow ahead and review the April 15, 2023 episode of Saturday Night Live. Since the host was Cuban-born Ana de Armas and the musical guest was Colombian-born Karol G, I shall translate the names of each sketch and musical performance into Spanish. (Although in some cases, translation won’t be necessary!)

Jonas Brothers, Molly Shannon, Saturday Night Live, Saturday Night Live Season 48, SNL, SNL Season 48

She’s more than 50! (CREDIT: NBC/Screenshot)
Here’s the good word: in April 2023, Molly Shannon returned to her Saturday Night Live stomping grounds to host the show. She’s done this before, and we’re glad to have her back. Unlike Molly, the Jonas Brothers were never SNL cast members, but like Molly, they have previously appeared on the show prior to this episode.
Since this episode aired on Easter Weekend, I will be resurrecting my reviewing method for the first episode of this season, in which I used one (1) word per sketch.
I watched much of this episode with my family – it was Easter, after all!

Happy April! And I mean that.
It’s officially on the record that the 16th episode of the 48th season of Saturday Night Live was hosted by Abbott Elementary creator-star Quinta Brunson, with musical guest Miles Parks McCollum, who of course goes by the stage name “Lil Yachty.”
Since this episode began airing on April 1, I will review each sketch by saying something UNTRUE about how I felt and then follow that up with a declaration of “April Fools!” Practical jokes can be cruel if not everyone is in on the joke, so I wanted to be fully transparent.

One Thousand, Nine Hundred, Seventy-Five Musical Guests! How do you measure music in an episode? (CREDIT: NBC/Screenshot)
The fifteenth episode of the forty-eighth season of Saturday Night Live was hosted by Jenna Ortega with musical guest The 1975. This occurred on my post-birthday weekend, which is good, because I enjoy watching new SNL this time of year. Indeed, I love watching new SNL at any time of the year, including around the anniversary of my birth.
Since Jenna Ortega is one of the current stars of the Scream franchise, I will be reviewing each sketch of this episode in ALL CAPS.
